Backdroply
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026
1. Introduction
Backdroply ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Thoughtomatic. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our meeting-background service at backdroply.com. By using Backdroply, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information — your name and email address, provided through Google sign-in when you create an account.
- Content you submit — the descriptions of your space (vibe, lighting, and the items you want in your background) that you enter to generate an image.
- Designs and generations — the backgrounds you create and the settings behind them, saved so you can revisit them.
- Usage data — how you interact with the service, including features used.
- Device and log data — IP address, browser type, and operating system, collected automatically.
Backdroply is free during launch, so we do not collect or store payment information at this time.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Backdroply service.
- To generate background images from the descriptions you provide.
- To save your designs so you can return to and reuse them.
- To communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support requests.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues.
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services to operate Backdroply:
- Google — used to sign you in. We receive your name and email from your Google account; Google handles authentication under its own privacy policy.
- Replicate — your description is sent to Replicate to generate your background image, processed under its own privacy policy.
- Anthropic (Claude) — the text you submit is screened by Anthropic's API to keep generations within our content policy, processed under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare R2 — your generated background images are stored in Cloudflare R2.
- Railway — hosts our application and database, where your account data and saved designs are stored.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
- Authentication cookies — set to keep you signed in.
- Local storage — used to remember your in-progress design and preferences in your browser.
We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
6. Data Retention
Your saved designs and generated backgrounds are kept so you can revisit them. If you delete your account, the associated data is permanently removed from our systems.
7. Your Rights
- Access and export — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Correction — update or correct inaccurate personal information.
- Objection — object to certain processing of your personal data.
8. GDPR (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, we process your personal data on the legal bases of contract performance (to provide the service), legitimate interest (to improve and secure the service), and consent (where applicable). You have the right to access, rectify, port, and erase your data, and to restrict or object to processing. You can access and delete your data from your account at any time.
9. CCPA (California Users)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information, and you can delete your data from your account.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the service. Your continued use of Backdroply after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
